Installing GaelSpell in ClarisWorks for the Mac OS

Language / teanga:

The following instructions describe how to install GaelSpell for use with ClarisWorks 4.0 on the Macintosh. Installing it in other versions of ClarisWorks should be similar, but it has not been possible to test this.

Installing GaelSpell in ClarisWorks 4.0

  1. Download the latest version of GaelSpell for the Mac OS from the download page.
  2. Save this file in the "Claris" folder which is inside the "System Folder" on your computer.
  3. Start ClarisWorks.
  4. Open the Edit menu by clicking on the word "Edit" at the top of your screen.
  5. Click on "Writing Tools" and select "Choose Dictionaries" from the popup menu. You should see a window like that shown in the picture below:
  6. ClarisWorks

  7. Select "MacGaelSpell2-CW" and you're done.
  8. GaelSpell has now been installed! Open a new document and type some text in Irish. Then click on "Writing Tools" and select "Check Document Spelling" from the popup menu and proceed.
If the steps given above didn't work, or if you require more detailed instructions, then please e-mail me with a description of the problem for assistance.
