The corpus

The text of the Phaistos Disc is given below in UTF-8 encoding following the formal UCS encoding of the Phaistos Disc script. A font for displaying this text is Everson Mono. (This font is ยฉ1998-2011 Michael Everson, may not be distributed to others via any other medium but my website without my permission. Commercial inquiries are, of course, welcomeโ€ฆ.) The text of the Phaistos Disc appears to have been written from right to left; therefore one reads into the faces of the people and animals depicted, as one does also when reading Egyptian hieroglyphs. The directionality given here is left-to-right, so accordingly the font presents the faces pointing to the left.
